CFO Markus Dieth achieved the best result with 95,611 votes, closely followed by Building Director Stephan Attiger with 95,404 votes. The absolute majority of 57,198 votes was also omitted by Director of Education Alex Hürzeler with 87,413 votes and Director of Health Jean-Pierre Gallati with 74,492 votes.
Greens are removed as surplus
The chairman of the SP’s parliamentary group, Dieter Egli, was immediately elected to the governing council. He received 69,747 votes. Assumes the vacant post of the SP government councilor, Urs Hofmann, who no longer appeared.
Greens candidate Christiane Guyer skipped the absolute majority of 60,103 votes. But it is disposed of as a surplus. The turnout was 32.3 percent.
GLP and Greens win Grand Council elections
In the Grand Council elections, the GLP won 6 seats and has 13 mandates. The Greens add 4 to 14 seats. The SP lost 4 seats and has 23 seats. The SVP has to give up 2 seats, but it is still the largest parliamentary group with 43 seats. It lost 1.6 percentage points and is now 30.3 percent.
The FDP lost a seat and still has 21 seats. The CVP increased by one seat to 18 seats. The EPP retains its 6 seats, as does the EDU its 2. The Grand Council has 140 seats. The new seating arrangement: SVP 43 (-2), SP 23 (-4), FDP 21 (-1), CVP 18 (+1), Greens 14 (+4), GLP 13 (+6), EVP 6 (-), EDU 2 (-). The BDP, which had won 4 seats in 2016, no longer works.
