This emerges from the report published Thursday by the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG) for week 47.
By week 47, 528 laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 disease related deaths were reported to the FOPH, spanning all cantons and the Principality of Liechtenstein except for the canton of Nidwalden. 575 deaths were reported in the previous week.
However, late reports of deaths are still expected, writes BAG. Therefore, the number of deaths is likely to continue to rise.
For week 47, as of Thursday, 926 hospitalizations were reported in relation to a laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 disease. Compared to the previous week, the number of hospitalizations has decreased. Late registrations of hospitalizations are expected.
528 patients with Covid 19 disease were in intensive care at week 47. That’s 7 percent more than at week 46.
In week 47, 157,615 tests were carried out, 12 percent less than in the previous week. Relative to the whole of Switzerland, the proportion of positive tests was 20.8 percent, lower than in the previous week (24.1 percent). The proportion of positive tests in the cantons ranged from 15.6 to 28.3 percent.
As of November 25, 2020, 27,160 people were in isolation due to a laboratory-confirmed Covid 19 disease, 30,955 contact people were in physician-prescribed quarantine, and another 265 people were in quarantine after entering from a risk country. Compared to the previous week, the number of people in isolation and the number of people in quarantine remained constant.
