In Basel on Sunday night, two 19-year-old men were threatened and injured by a group of 20 people. A suspect could be arrested. The police are looking for witnesses.
The two 19-year-olds had been with two younger men at Gundeldinger Feld at 1:45 am when a group of about 20 people emerged from Dornacherstrasse. They were armed with various objects, as announced by the Basel-Stadt canton prosecutor.
18 year old arrested
The two 19-year-olds fled to the Bruderholz tram stop. However, they were hit by the group, attacked, and knocked to the ground. One of the 19-year-olds was stabbed. His colleague suffered various facial injuries. The attackers then fled in an unknown direction.
The injured were referred to the emergency station by the Basel-Stadt ambulance. As part of an immediate persecution, one of the alleged perpetrators, an 18-year-old Swiss, was arrested. The exact course of events and the motive for the attack are the subject of investigations by the criminal police.
