This is what the loosening of the crown looks like in different countries

“Finally out”: What the Spanish, who have been particularly affected by the crown pandemic, have been awarded to the 60 million Italians from Monday onwards. The strict curfews that have been in place for almost two months are eased in Italy. But many other countries in Europe are also beginning to regain some of the sometimes drastic restrictions on everyday life that have been adopted in the fight against lung disease. In part, as in Germany, hairdressers reopen and in many places “normal” everyday school life begins again. Many of the strict precautionary measures persist. So we are still a long way from normal.

Germany

In many places, children are allowed to go to playgrounds at the beginning of the week, and museums and zoos are also open again. Hairdressers can again serve clients. Hundreds of thousands of children and adolescents in Germany return to school this Monday for the first time in weeks. In some federal states, the final grades of elementary school and students who are due to take final exams in the next school year are now returning. According to a dpa survey, children in grades 1 to 3 and students in grades 5 to 8 are staying home for now. Chancellor Angela Merkel and heads of country want to advise on new school and daycare openings on Wednesday. Ministerial conferences should prepare, among other things, proposals for framework conditions for the gradual opening of gastronomy and tourism offers for the Merkels round and the heads of countries that follow after May 6.

Austria

Regular instruction begins again in the Alpine Republic for around 100,000 high school students. Under the government’s step-by-step plan, elementary schools and lower grades will be ready in mid-May; all others will follow in early June. Starting Monday, nursing home visits are again possible with restrictions. In the country, all stores and almost all service providers are now open again. The restaurants will continue on May 15 and the hotels at the end of May.

Italy

As of Monday, about 60 million people can go out for sports or walking for the first time. Industry and construction start production again. However, most stores still can’t open. Restaurants and bars can only offer a delivery or takeaway service and are closed for visits until June. The government of Rome had quarantined people across the country on March 10, and then closed non-vital production. With more than 209,000 infections and around 28,000 deaths, Italy is one of the countries most affected by Covid-19 lung disease.

Belgium

The first phase of condition relief is scheduled to begin on Monday. In this way, more buses and trains will be reused, and a mask requirement applies to people twelve and older. Companies that have other companies as customers but do not serve individuals can open. You can also open fabric and haberdashery shops. Other stores beyond the grocery store are said to remain for another week. In compliance with the rules of distance, the sport is allowed again with two people who do not live in their own home. However, working at home should still be the rule and people should only leave their home with a few exceptions, for example, to go shopping, to go to work or to the doctor. The next stages of relaxation are scheduled for May 11 and 18. The gradual opening of the school is only addressed in phase three.

Hungary

Almost everywhere in the country, people can move freely again if the minimum distance of 1.5 meters is observed. Stores can open without restrictions, restaurants can reopen if serving outside. Beach pools can also be opened. This does not apply to Budapest and the surrounding area, where the above exit restrictions remain in effect. Across the country, masks are mandatory in stores and public transportation. Sports competitions can be held across the country without an audience again. Business travelers coming from Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia or South Korea are exempt from the general entry ban for foreigners. The mandatory 14-day quarantine also does not apply to this group of people.

Poland

The country is relaxing several issues. Citizens who work or study in Germany, Slovakia, the Czech Republic or Lithuania no longer have to be quarantined for 14 days when they return to Poland from Monday. Quarantine regulation continues to apply to medical personnel and people who work in care facilities. Hotels, shopping malls and outdoor sports fields should be reopened. Controls at the borders with other EU member states will remain in force until May 13, the country is also closed to foreigners. Exceptions apply to people with a permanent residence permit, truckers and diplomats.

Lithuania

People are allowed to leave the country again: the ban on the departure of Lithuanian citizens has been lifted. In view of current entry restrictions in other EU countries, however, a higher volume of travel is not expected. For foreigners there is still an extensive entrance stop.

Estonia

Restrictions on freedom of movement between the Baltic Sea islands and the mainland are relaxed: islanders and people with a second home on one of the islands can travel again. Somewhat stricter rules still apply to the country’s largest island, Saaremaa, the one most affected by the corona virus, popularly known as “Corona Island.”

Iceland

Iceland is the third country in Scandinavia after Denmark and Norway to relax its anti-crown measures. Starting Monday, North Atlantic Island schools, previously open with restrictions, should return to normal operation. Universities and colleges, which have been closed for weeks, can also reopen, the same applies to hairdressers, massage therapists, beauty salons, dentists and museums. The number of participants allowed for meetings increases from 20 to 50.

Greece

Starting Monday, masks are required on public transportation, elevators, and hospitals, as well as medical practices. Anyone who does not comply with this must pay a fine of 150 euros. Additionally, hair salons, electronics stores, and bookstores may reopen. Citizens will be able to leave the house without restrictions from Monday. Traveling outside the respective prefecture (this roughly corresponds to a district in Germany) remains taboo for the moment. Travel from the mainland to the islands is also not allowed at the moment.

Cyprus

All retail stores are open on Mondays. In addition, hardware stores are opened, all construction work is possible again. Courts can negotiate again in strict compliance with distance rules. An exit ban remains between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Croatia

In the vacation destination that is important to Germans, service providers with close contact with the client (hairdressers, beauticians, beauty salons) will now open on Monday. You have to take certain precautions. A week later (May 11), large shopping malls and restaurants should open, provided they serve outside. The children will then be able to return to primary schools and daycare centers.

Bulgaria

The outdoor mask requirement was abolished on May 1. People can now be in parks, streets, and bus stops without mouth protection. On buses and trains, shops and churches, the mask requirement continues until May 13. Then you must end a two-month state of emergency. Since Sunday, all the national and natural parks and mountains of the Balkans have been reopened to visitors with some restrictions. The crisis team checks the conditions under which shopping malls, hotels, restaurants and cafes can be reopened.
