Ice Hockey: Mark Streit and Roman Josi join SCB

There were times when Mark Streit was not taken seriously at the ice skating club in Bern. Streit was a 16-year-old elite youth when former sports director Bill Gilligan told him the future would be planned without him. The rest of this story should be familiar to all Swiss ice hockey fans: the defender made the leap to North America in the best league in the world through Freiburg-Gottéron, Davos and Zurich.

In 2009, Streit was the first Swiss to be nominated for the NHL All-Star-Game after an outstanding performance with the New York Islanders, and in 2017 the Stadtberner Berliner capped his life’s work in service to the Pittsburgh Penguins with the Stanley Cup. And now the 42-year-old is investing in the club he despised when he was young: Streit bought a SCB share package, just like his friend Roman Josi.
