Strangers had indulged in a bad taste joke with a fake vaccination call for everyone over 80 years old in the city of Seville, in southern Spain. Through various WhatsApp groups, an alleged message from the health authority was spread that all people over 80 could be vaccinated against the crown on Thursday without an appointment.
In front of the vaccination center, a queue of around 4,000 people, among the elderly and their families, reported the newspaper “El País”. Good luck for those who came: the health authorities then activated additional staff and organized 2,000 more doses of vaccines so that the elderly did not have to go home without having achieved anything.
Dangerous crowd for joke
However, this is an individual action and it still applies that only those who have received an invitation are vaccinated. The health authority filed a complaint against unknown persons for the spread of the false vaccination call, which had spoiled the planned vaccination campaign and caused a dangerous crowd among those at risk.
