Now we have one after another. Qualifying ends on Easter Monday. Six games await the teams in ten days, and seven for Lausanne and Davos.
Only the high-flying pilots Zug (qualified for the playoffs) and the SCL Tigers (season finale after qualifying) already know for sure how things will go afterwards. In the no-man’s-land of the table is HCD, who would need a miracle to advance directly to the playoffs.
Biel with an encouraging program
So there are six teams playing “Journey to Jerusalem”. Five of them will finish in the top 6, one will be left without a seat in the playoffs and will have to play the pre-playoffs (7th versus 10th and 8th versus 9th, best of 3 format).
For now it would be Biel. But the Zeelanders have a remaining program that should cheer them up. You still play five teams against whom you have a positive record in the previous season’s duels. The competition can only dream of such a starting position. With a victory in the direct duel, Lars Leuenberger’s team could already overtake Servette today.
Lausanne against line competitors 5 times
Lausanne is currently in second place, but it still plays five matches against teams that are playing for a place in the top 6 and only has a positive balance (still) against today’s opponent, Friborg.
In the background, whoever is down, has the end of the season after Easter, Ambri is in reserve. And the people of Ticino have to overcome their demons if they still want to intercept Bern or the SCRJ Lakers.
Team Cereda’s final sprint begins today with the Lugano derby. In five games this season there was only one point for Biancoblù. And Saturday continues the confrontation against the SCRJ Lakers, against whom they won only one of the five games.
Bad omens for Ambri
For Ambri, it is not enough to tie on points with Bern or Rappi, since the balance of direct duels would come into play. And that speaks clearly against the Leventina team, which only finds itself with a team against which it has a positive balance: the ZSC Lions.
But the SCB also has a nutritious menu up front. Of the standout opponents, the Bernese only have one successful record this season against Servette and the SCL Tigers, with whom they have always shown difficulty.
