Ralph Weber prevails over Yannick Chabloz in Zinal. Delia Durrer wins the women’s combination.
Ralph Weber was half a second slower than Yannick Chabloz on the descent in the final half time at the Swiss Championship in Zinal and did not make the podium. At the bottom of the not particularly demanding course, the eastern Swiss appeared and relegated Chabloz to second place by 0.01 seconds.
Premiere for Weber
For Weber it is the first title of a Swiss championship. In 2015, the 27-year-old narrowly missed the Super-G title as a runner-up. At the World Cup, the 2012 Super-G junior world champion didn’t really get going this season. His best downhill result was 16th at Val d’Isère.
With Beat Feuz, the best Swiss alpine skier had decided not to participate in the Swiss championships.
Durrer wins combination
In the women’s combination, Nidwalden’s Delia Durrer secured her first elite championship title. The 18-year-old, who made her World Cup debut on the downhill in Val di Fassa at the end of February, relegated Rahel Kopp to second place by 0.05 seconds, while Janine Schmitt was third.
