- The two Super G races on Thursday at the Lenzerheide season finale were also victims of the weather.
- After several postponements due to fog, the organizers had to surrender shortly after 11 a.m.
- The little crystal balls are for Lara Gut-Behrami and Vincent Kriechmayr / AUT.
- This means that team competition as well as a slalom and a giant slalom are still on the program at Lenzerheide.
The Lenzerheide organizers are truly to be envied: on Thursday they were also bothered by a lot of fresh snow and fog. Dozens of helpers worked hard to make sure the two Super G races can still be saved.
But after an early morning postponement, it became clear after 11 a.m.: After Wednesday’s two downhill races, Thursday’s two Super-Gs are also unrivaled.
Crystal for Gut-Behrami and Kriechmayr
The victories in the discipline’s World Cups are for Lara Gut-Behrami, who secured the crystal ball ahead of schedule, and for Vincent Kriechmayr. Before the end of the season, the Austrian had an 83-point cushion against Marco Odermatt. For its part, Ticino had an incredible 202 points more than its first rival Federica Brignone / ITA.
Switzerland in World Cup duels at a disadvantage
In the fight for the big crystal balls, the bad luck in Lenzerheide and the double rejection of the Swiss are really bitter: Marco Odermatt could have recovered important points from leader Alexis Pinturault / FRA in speed races. The same happened with Gut-Behrami, currently second in the battle for the World Cup behind technique Petra Vlhova / SVK.
For technical reasons, it is not allowed to postpone races at the end of the season. This had already sparked discussions after the cancellation of the departures.
This means that the team competition will be the first race in Lenzerheide on Friday. On Saturday the men lead a giant slalom and on Sunday a slalom. For women, the program is the exact opposite.
