Strange Twitter error: harmless word led to account suspension

Twitter users who mentioned the name of the city of Memphis on Sunday had to expect surprising consequences: some accounts were blocked for twelve hours. Twitter spoke Monday night of a bug that has since been fixed. Initially there was no explanation of how this happened.

The problem was noted by fans of the Memphis Grizzlies basketball team and by users who mentioned the name of the footballer Memphis Depay.
