Rappi keeps Ambri at bay – SCB is back in playoff spot after beating ZSC

For the first time since February 20, SC Bern has a playoff spot. The ZSC Lions won 5-2. Meanwhile, the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers won 3-1 in a direct duel for one of the last playoff spots against Ambri.

SCRJ Lakers – Ambri 3: 1

The most important game of the round, the duel at the bottom playoff line, won the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers against HC Ambri-Piotta 3: 1. Since SC Bern still seems to find the rank, it seems that the Lakers and Ambri will occupy the last place in the knockout stages of the playoffs between them. In this sense, the direct duel was of great importance.

The Rapperswilers, who scored seven of a possible nine points this week, are now six points ahead of Ambri-Piotta, who fell to 11th in the table behind the SCB.

It could be seen that a lot was happening in this game, the level of play was kept within manageable limits on both sides, rather the fight was the trump card. The winner of the Lakers game was Nando Eggenberger, who scored 2-1 in the final third and 3-1 in the 59th minute after 47 seconds. He now has eleven goals this season. Thus, Rapperswil won the third home game of the current season against Ticino.

The hosts scored 1-0 in the 8th minute, outnumbered by Marco Lehmann. It was already the ninth shorthander that the Leventines conceded in the current championship. The Lakers’ lead only lasted 80 seconds, then Elia Mazzolini tied with his first goal of the season in the National League. For the thirteenth time in the current championship, Rapperswil’s team conceded a goal within two minutes of scoring a goal, a statistic that should give rise to reflection.

ZSC Lions – Bern 2: 5

SC Bern performed extremely efficiently at the Hallenstadion. Two weeks after the cup final, Bern confidently again prevailed over the ZSC Lions.

The term “sovereign” is mainly reduced to the result. The ZSC Lions dominated the first section, but failed repeatedly due to Finnish devil Tomi Karhunen (40 parades).

Lukas Flüeler, the ZSC Lions goalkeeper, could only dream of so many saves. Of the first six shots in his case, Flüeler had to miss three (!). After 22 minutes and goals from Calle Andersson, Simon Moser and Dustin Jeffrey, Bern was leading 3-0 in Zurich, although the Lions had shot three more times on target so far.

It wasn’t up to Flüeler that the ZSC Lions lost again, for the fifth time in the last six games (including the cup final). In particular, when Simon Moser scored two goals (2-0 and 4-1 for Bern), the Zurich team revealed their current problems. With a poor fit in the attack, the ZSC allowed the SCB to make the decisive counterattack.

For the fourth time in a row, Zurich conceded five goals. And the last eight home games at the Hallenstadion resulted in seven losses, five of them against teams that are 10-12 in the table.

Servette – Biel 1: 4

Biel achieved an important victory in Geneva. EHC Biel tied Servette 4-1 after Geneva climbed to second place in the table for the first time this season. At the same time, the New Zealanders kept all chances of qualifying for the quarterfinals directly (top 6).

The two strong teams fought an intense duel in which Biel gained advantages from the beginning. Joren van Pottelberghe (26 shows) kept Biel in play in the opening phase, in which Servette broke in wildly. Later, Toni Rajala gave the lead to the guest. And in the second leg, Michael Hügli and Marc-Antoine Pouliot went from 1-0 to 3-0 in six minutes. Biel’s first three scorers reached the twelfth goal of the season; Pouliot then scored goal number 13 to make it 4-0.

Servette didn’t find her way back in the second half of the game. Geneva lost again for the first time after four victories, while Biel extended his famous away streak. EHC Biel has won nine of the last ten away games.

Lausanne – Freiburg 1: 2

Lausanne also did not find a way out of the crisis in the next home game. The Vaudois lost 1: 2 to Freiburg. The return of PostFinance top scorer Denis Malgin and a change of goalkeeper (Tobias Stephan for Luca Boltshauser) changed nothing for Lausanne. The LHC has already conceded the third suite loss. The last twelve games resulted in just three wins. And in the home arena, they have missed six of the last seven games.

Consequently, Lausanne, long seen as Leader Zug’s most serious pursuer, must now fear for direct qualification to the quarter-finals. Lausanne now only ranks sixth; the advantage over Biel (7th) and Davos (8th) is marginal, but at least the Lausanne team can win back three more games.

Freiburg led in Lausanne in the 25th minute and goals from Mauro Jörg and David Desharnais (outnumbered!) 2-0. With 31 saves, goalkeeper Reto Berra ensured that Gottéron was ahead in time.

The great redemption: FCB ended their long streak against Lucerna

FC Basel won their first game of the second half of the season on the seventh attempt. With a 4-1 win over Lucerne, the Basel side also ended the negative streak in home games: they had not won the last seven Super League games at St. Jakob-Park.

For FC Luzern, however, a good streak has ended. Central Switzerland had won eleven points in the previous five championship games.

As in all competitive matches this calendar year, the series champion was …
