Health Minister Alain Berset (48, SP) is pleased on Twitter that his Federal Office of Public Health (BAG) has obtained more vaccines. According to the federal government, this should allow everyone who wants to get vaccinated by the end of June.
Switzerland will receive the additional vaccines in stages. So, between April and June, a first million cans are received, from July the additional second million and in the last quarter of 2021 the third million cans from Pfizer / Biontech.
35 million cans so far
Switzerland now has 35 million doses of vaccines available this year. Negotiations to buy more cans are still ongoing. As BAG’s head of vaccination Nora Kronig (40) told the media, Switzerland has received 1.3 million doses since the end of December. This month, another million doses of corona vaccine will be added and just over a million in April. In May and June, Kronig expects many more doses than now in March.
