These scenes are currently being repeated. “We are very concerned,” Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber told CNN. He also warns: “We have different variants of Corona down here, and sometimes dozens of deaths per day.”
The Problem: “At the same time, we have incredibly cheap round-trip tickets for $ 40 from anywhere in here, plus discounted rooms and people who are upset and have nowhere else to go but here,” says the mayor.
No need for a mask: the police have no power
Also, vacation guests don’t have to wear masks. The state of Florida in the US recommends face protection, but there is no obligation to use it. According to a decree from Governor Ron DeSantis (42), local governments are not authorized to impose fines or penalties for non-use.
According to the mayor of Miami Beach, that will easily lead to a blockbuster. “I would like the voice of the governor to urge people to be responsible, but we really don’t have that right now,” says Gelber.
He makes it clear: “Since we opened everything up and we are not allowed to impose a mask requirement, there has been an enormous amount of suffering.”
