Cup quarterfinal draw – GC versus YB or St. Gallen – a challenge league player in the semifinal – sport

• The draw for the cup quarterfinals brought Super League clubs YB and St. Gallen to the GC as potential opponents.
• With Aarau taking on Winterthur, it is already clear that a Challenge League club will surely be represented in the semi-finals.
• The teams of the other couples have not yet played their round of 16.

After the match against Lausana-Sport (2-0) in the round of 16, the Grasshoppers face another super league team. The winner of the St. Gallen vs. YB match (not yet scheduled) will have to compete with the record champion and leader of the Challenge League.

A Challenge League team in the semi-finals

Since Aarau faces Winterthur at home, at least one Challenge Legue club will also be represented in the semi-finals of the cup. The duels of the season so far ended 3-1 for Aarau and 0-0.

In the other 2 pairings, it is certain that neither team has reached the quarterfinals. Only the match between Chiasso and Lucerna (March 10) is scheduled. The problems are mainly caused by the crown’s regulation, which says that amateur teams cannot play matches.
