In the protracted legal dispute between actress Sofía Vergara (48) and her ex-boyfriend Nick Loeb (45) over frozen embryos, the Hollywood star has achieved another victory.
According to US media reports on Wednesday, a Los Angeles court ordered that Loeb Vergaras needed “express written consent” for a surrogate mother to carry the embryos to term.
Ex-partner had frozen embryos in 2013
The “Modern Family” star was with businessman Loeb from 2010 to 2014 with interruptions. After the separation, Loeb went to court to sue for control of two embryos that had been created together by artificial insemination.
They were frozen in 2013. Under their contract with a fertility clinic in Beverly Hills, both parties would have to agree to any step, the California judge has now ruled.
Nick Loeb’s second loss
Loeb had also filed a lawsuit in the conservative US state of Louisiana on behalf of the fertilized eggs. He wanted to make sure that the two embryos could be born. In January, Loeb suffered a loss in Louisiana on appeal.
The Colombian-born actress is best known for her role on the hit series “Modern Family.” She has a son from a previous marriage, who was born in 1992. Vergara has been married to her American colleague Joe Manganiello (44, “Magic Mike XXL”) since 2015. (SDA / bsn)
