The Bundeshaus has its first crown case as part of the crown preventive tests during the spring session: it caught Uri FDP Council of States, Josef Dittli (63). He tested positive on Wednesday. “I have no symptoms,” he tells SEE. However, you still do not know what type of virus it is.
Do your colleagues on the Council of States now have to quarantine and quarantine in ranks? “Any quarantine decision is the responsibility of the responsible cantonal authorities,” explain the parliamentary services. “They evaluate the individual case and, in particular, if the protection measures have been complied with.”
One thing is clear: the Bundeshaus has a protection concept with a mask requirement, Plexiglass partitions between council members, or access restrictions for non-MPs.
Dittli’s wife must be quarantined.
Dittli himself isolated himself immediately after the positive test result and headed home. There he reported his infection to Uri Contact Tracing and discussed how to proceed.
“I did not have to inform anyone to locate contacts because I was not exposed to anyone for more than 15 minutes at a distance of less than 1.5 meters,” reports Dittli. “My wife is the only person who had to be quarantined due to the conversation with the contact tracing specialist.” You can get tested today.
The Covid application warns the Council of States
Dittli’s fellow advisers, who sit near his desk in the Council of States, are also taking the situation in stride. Several have received a warning through the Swisscovid app that they have been too close to an infected person for too long.
So also the leader of the center parliamentary group Andrea Gmür (56), who only sits next to Dittli separated by the corridor. “I got a warning and immediately filled out an extensive in-app questionnaire,” he says. He also had to fill in if he had used a mask or if there were plexiglass walls, because the app does not recognize if there is a protection concept.
Then I got a green message. That means there is no danger, but I must be careful, ”said the Lucerne councilor. If you had received a red message, you should have been quarantined immediately. “That shows that the application works,” says Gmür. By the way, he also participated in the Bundeshaus mass test and received a negative result on Thursday. “Of course, I will be retested next week and will be happy to do so.”
FDP-Noser is already immune
Dittli’s neighbor, Ruedi Noser (59, ZH), also received a warning from the Swisscovid app. “But I already had the virus at the beginning of January and I suppose this will not be a problem for me,” explains the Council of States in Zurich. So not being already immune.
The two FDP rulers, Andrea Caroni (40, AR) and Hans Wicki (57, NW), who are in line behind Dittli, are also taking it easy. “We have rapid tests of extra mass, distance, plexiglass and mask to avoid massive quarantines,” says Caroni. And Wicki says: “Yesterday I got a negative result, the Covid app did not issue a warning and I feel healthy. So there is no need to worry! “
Only one of the 617 tests was positive
In fact, Dittli is so far the only one whose test result was positive, with a total of 617 corona tests in the first week of the spring session, as the parliamentary services tweeted. 250 tests were carried out on councilors and 367 on other participants in the session, such as employees of parliamentary groups or journalists.
The Uri FDP Council of States, which requires free and periodic Corona tests for the entire population, even sees something good in this: “I am proof that the system works. My request for periodic bulk testing is confirmed. The only grotesque thing is that in the spring session, of all people, I’m the first to get caught. “
