A dog chased and killed a deer in Riehen on Tuesday morning. The game director had to publish the game. There is no trace of the dog’s owner.

A walker observed the incident, as Basel police announced on Tuesday. According to the witness, the unknown dog chased a roe deer shortly after 8 am on the Grenzacherweg, near the Horngrabenweg. The dog only released the wild animal when the woman had approached him within ten feet.

I couldn’t see or hear a dog owner’s call. According to his description, it was a medium-sized dog, shoulder height about fifty centimeters, black fur with a white chest and white mask (face), longer hair and erect ears.

The police of the canton of Basel-Stadt are looking for more witnesses and the owner of the dog who has violated his duties according to the cantonal ordinance on dogs.
