Gut-Behrami and Suter should use pickup trucks
Beat Tschuor, the head coach of women at Swiss-Ski, is planning the World Cup in Cortina d’Ampezzo in combination with Lara Gut-Behrami and Corinne Suter on Monday. Speed specialists will form the Swiss quintet on the first day of competition with the trio consisting of defending champion Wendy Holdener, Olympic champion Michelle Gisin and Priska Nufer. The ulterior motive: The two biggest Swiss trump cards in speed racing should get a chance to train in Super G on the World Championship track.
End of season for Ferstl
Josef Ferstl will miss the Cortina d’Ampezzo World Cup, which starts next week. The German was injured more badly than initially expected when he fell in Friday’s World Cup relegation at Garmisch. Investigations at the hospital revealed a torn muscle bundle in his left hip and a broken left ankle. So the 32-year-old season is over.
Troop not in Cortina either
The Austrian women’s team has yet to complain about another failure. Katharina Truppe suffered a muscle and tendon tear in the adductor area during slalom training at the Reiteralm. Carinthia, who achieved her best results in slalom, has to take a break for several weeks and misses the Cortina d’Ampezzo World Championship. The ÖSV women are also missing Ricarda Haaser, Nina Ortlieb, Nicole Schmidhofer and Bernadette Schild due to injuries.
