After 4 losses in a row, Bern has won another game in the National League.
Who would have thought? SC Bern, who has been in crisis for months, finds his way back to victory in the Hallenstadion of all venues. And even more amazing: the “Mutzen” in the power game make the preliminary decision.
First the shorthander …
Before the duel with ZSC, the Bernese had not scored a goal outnumbered for an incredible 34 minutes straight. Even during a penalty against Marco Pedretti in the first third, the guests were unsuccessful.
When Pedretti returned to the penalty area in the 28th minute due to an obstruction, a goal was scored, but on the wrong side. Sven Andrighetto closed out a counterattack outnumbered 1: 2.
… then two power play goals
Now the SCB could well have collapsed, but the opposite happened: 23 seconds after Andrighetto’s goal, Tristan Scherwey scored to make it 3-1, ending a nearly 37-minute drought in Bern.
And the bottom of the table proved it: 13 seconds before the second third break, Scherwey once again made the preliminary decision with a power play goal.
Two more duels are pending
For Berna it is the first success after the quarantine and the first three since January 5 (against Ambri). The Lions couldn’t hide the fact that several key players were missing (Gareth Roe recently joined).
After all, the Zurich team will soon have a chance for revenge: this and next Friday, the two teams will meet again in Bern.
