Ex-Red-Wing Abdelkader to EV train

National League leader Zug will be bolstered by American forward Justin Abdelkader until the end of the season. The 33-year-old was without a club after the NHL’s Detroit Red Wings prematurely terminated the wing’s contract in October. In 13 seasons for the Red Wings, Abdelkader completed 803 games, scoring 112 goals and 153 assists.

ZSC Lions several weeks without Roe

ZSC forward Garrett Roe suffered a lower body injury in the away game against HC Davos. Shortly before the end of the game, Roe joined the gang after a check and sprained his leg. Afterward, he was only able to get off the ice with help. The 32-year-old American will be absent from Zurich for several weeks. Roe is currently the third best scorer for the ZSC Lions. In 31 games he scored 24 points (7 goals / 17 assists). With Maxim Noreau and Ryan Lasch, coach Rikard Grönborg’s team currently has only two uninjured foreigners available.

Lausannes Barberio locked

Lausanne defender Mark Barberio has been automatically suspended for one match. The 30-year-old Canadian received a misconduct penalty of more than five minutes against Zug on Tuesday for the second time this season. The National League also humiliated him with a fine of 2,500 francs.
