Lufthansa Group airlines, including Switzerland, are introducing the obligation to wear a medical protective mask on their flights to and from Germany. The regulation goes into effect on February 1. From this point on, passengers are required to wear a surgical mask or an FFP2 mask during boarding, flight and when leaving the plane. So everyday masks are no longer allowed.
The Lufthansa Group airlines had already introduced the requirement to wear a face mask on board their flights in May last year. “So that passengers can adjust to the new rules in time, they will be informed by email and on airline websites and social media channels,” says a message.
Dispensing for medical reasons only
The Lufthansa Group states: “As before, an exemption from the obligation to wear a mouth and nose guard during the flight is only possible for medical reasons if the medical certificate is issued on a form provided by Lufthansa. And if there is a negative Covid-19 test that is no more than 48 hours old when the trip starts as scheduled. ”
