Navalny’s team has published an investigation into a “secret palace” of the Russian president. The video has been viewed almost half a million times on YouTube.
Alexei Navalny’s team has a day after his incarceration published a large-scale investigation into a supposedly super expensive secret palace of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Under the title “A palace for Putin. The story of the biggest bribery ”, Nawalny employees published on Tuesday a YouTube video of almost two hours in which the opposition leader accused the Russian head of state of having built a“ kingdom ”for himself for 100 billion of rubles (1.1 billion euros) 39 times bigger than Monaco. In half an hour, the movie received almost half a million views on YouTube. Initially there was no reaction from the Kremlin.
Thus, the film was produced while Navalny was still in Germany, where he recovered from a Novitschok neurotoxin attack in August on Sunday.
Navalny actually wanted to present the investigation himself after his return to Russia, his spokesperson Kira Jarmysch wrote on Twitter. But since he was arrested directly, that was not possible. The content, Jarmysch said, infuriated her. “Putin robs my country, locks up my friends, he is a murderer,” he said. At the rally scheduled for Saturday, people should vent it.
At the end of the video, Navalny called on his followers to protest next Saturday: “Our future is in our hands. Don’t be silent! “Appeals of this type are repeatedly punished in Russia. Demonstrations are only possible with permission and have not been allowed for months due to the corona pandemic.
Navalny, who has an audience of millions on social media, has repeatedly posted revelations online about the riches of corrupt rulers and officials. However, as a rule, this had no consequences for the accused. Rather, investigators had raided Nawalny’s equipment and offices with raids and criminal proceedings after the revelations. The organization Transparency International ranks Russia among the most corrupt countries in the world. Research on this is often life-threatening.
The opposition politician was sentenced to 30 days in prison on Monday in a controversial express trial at a Moscow police station for allegedly violating probation conditions in a previous criminal case. Read about it: Julia, Alexei Navalny’s wife: “You may not be able to be saved a second time”
