Juventus Turin inflicted their first defeat of the season for AC Milan, keeping up with the leaders.
For Juventus Turin, the match in the empty Giuseppe Meazza Stadium had already been announced as the match of the penultimate chance. Before the trip to Milan, Andrea Pirlo’s team was ten points behind the formally strong leader Milan, but played one game less.
The teacher of the last nine years was up to the task, especially thanks to Federico Chiesa. The Italian international, on loan from Fiorentina, scored 1-0 (18th) and 2-1 (62nd) for the guests after an early shot at the post and thus decided the match. Weston McKennie, on loan from Schalke, sealed Milan’s first defeat of the season with a 3-1 victory for Juventus.
Inter’s winning streak was broken
Besides AC, the second best team in Milan also had to leave the field as the loser. Second in the table lost 2-1 at Epiphany after eight straight wins at Sampdoria Genoa. Inter were already down 2-0 at half-time, but the guests could no longer win more than Stefan de Vrij’s header.
Atalanta Bergamo celebrated a clear victory with Remo Freuler. Bergamasken beat Parma (with Simon Sohm) 3-0. Gian Piero Gasperini’s team has been undefeated for six games, in which the second-best offense in the league scored 18 goals.
