Barn fire in Mauensee takes two injured

On Tuesday afternoon a fire broke out in a barn with an attached house in Mauensee. Two people were injured. Forty pigs were mostly saved.

(rapid eye movement) On Tuesday afternoon, shortly after 1:30 p.m., a fire broke out in a barn in Mauensee. When the first emergency services arrived, part of the barn was already in the middle of fire.

Two people were injured in the fire. The ambulance service took him to the hospital. There were about forty pigs in the barn. Most of these could be saved. Four pigs were killed or injured, for which they had to be euthanized by a local veterinarian, according to Lucerne police.

Emergency services were able to prevent the fire from spreading to surrounding buildings, including a biogas plant. About 80 firefighters from the Knutwil-Mauensee and Sursee region fire brigades were on duty. Damage to property cannot currently be quantified. The cause of the fire is the subject of ongoing investigations. Fire investigators have begun work. The Bernstrasse between Sursee and Mauensee was closed for about three hours. Traffic was diverted local.

The fire department is fighting the fire with a revolving ladder.
