Rescuers have suspended the search for a boat with around 20 occupants that has disappeared in the Atlantic not far off the coast of Florida. The nearly 30-foot-long motorboat left the Bahamian archipelago of Bimini on Monday and was no longer sighted, the US Coast Guard announced on Friday (local time).
In reality, it should have arrived at the port of Lake Worth on the east coast of the US state of Florida a long time ago, but the ship never appeared there. According to the information, rescuers searched a 44,000 square kilometer maritime zone with ships and planes, but surrendered after 84 hours for the time being. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the missing,” the coast guard message said.
