Ayub is the first child to be born at Waid und Triemli City Hospital in 2021. The healthy child shares something very special with his older sister.
Little Ayub Mahmud was born ten minutes after midnight. The child will be the first newborn at the Triemli Women’s Clinic in 2021. And just after the turn of the year, the first in the city and canton of Zurich, but not in all of Switzerland, this title went to Nejla, the exact time in Basel at midnight saw the light of day. Ayub weighs 3780 grams and is 51 centimeters tall, according to the clinic. He approached the New Year calmly but curiously. “The delivery went very well and relatively quickly,” says assistant doctor Clara Müller, “the little boy didn’t cry at all, he quickly opened his eyes and looked around curiously.” Ayub’s birth was a great start to the new year for the employees of the women’s clinic. The boy’s parents are also happy: “Ayub is very happy and calm, we hope he will continue like this in the coming nights,” says the proud father.
The sister was also born on New Year’s Day.
Ayub is the third son of Abdu Afrah and Hassan Mahmud. His two older sisters were also born around the turn of the year. Six-year-old Israa was born on December 18, three-year-old Reem, was born the same day as Ayub, January 1. Reem almost made it three years ago to have her first baby in the new year: she was born at 7.49am in Triemli. Parents are looking forward to having a great birthday party next year. Ayub’s father was not in the hospital when he was born, he took care of the two older children at home.
In 2020, 2,319 children were born at the Triemli women’s clinic, a new record. The gynecological clinic of the Waid und Triemli city hospital offers a wide range of care during pregnancy and obstetrics and accompanies the mother and child even after delivery, in the puerperium and supports breastfeeding.
