Samuel Little, who was known to the FBI as America’s worst serial killer with 93 confessed murders, is dead. He died Wednesday morning (local time) at age 80 in a hospital, according to California prison authorities. Little had recently served three life sentences without parole at a West Coast state detention center. The cause of death was initially unknown.

According to the FBI, the man was first caught for drug offenses in 2012. Investigators then used DNA traces to establish the connection to three murder cases: The women were strangled in the Los Angeles area between 1987 and 1989. In 2014, Little was sentenced to three life sentences for it.

In 2013, the Los Angeles Police Department passed information to a division of the federal FBI that specializes in investigating serial violence. His investigation found a pattern that Little linked to other murders.

The FBI website published in October 2019, which provides detailed information on some of Little’s crimes between 1970 and 2005, is titled “Confessions of a Killer.” Most of his victims were women. Drawings of confirmed and presumed victims can be seen. According to a Washington Post report, Little is said to have been killed in 19 states. Therefore, almost half of its victims have not yet been identified. Little’s death now could further delay these efforts, the newspaper wrote.
