Jambulat Khokhov did not have a normal childhood. The native Russian was very overweight from the start. When he was born, he weighed a healthy 2,900 grams. Four years later it had become 56 kilos. Hence, Chatochow achieved questionable fame. In 2003, the Guinness Book of Records named him the “fattest boy in the world”. Now he’s dead.
As the TMZ people portal reports, Chatochow was only 21 years old. It is not yet known exactly what he died of. The Russian is said to have been battling kidney disease at the time of his death.
Weighing more than 200 kilos
Khatokhov was unable to control his weight in his entire life. At six years old, he weighed 100 kilos, more than most adult men. At the time of his death, he weighed more than 200 kilos.
From his youth he was active as a sumo wrestler and even won some tournaments. He also had some successes in wrestling. The coach of his wrestling club has announced his death. “The first Kabardino-Balkaria sumo wrestler has died,” Betal Gubschew wrote on social media. “My thoughts are with his family and friends.”
“It just grows, up and across”
Chatochow’s severe overweight was not caused by genetic defects, as his mother always emphasized. Nor did he overeat. “It just grows, up and across,” he is said to have said, according to TMZ. “What do I have to do? This is him, this is how God created him.” The fact is, doctors have been warning of Chatochow’s untimely death for years. It was not of use. (klm)
