A police report prompts Nashville authorities to clarify: the attacker’s ex-girlfriend had warned against him.
Police in the US city of Nasvhille received indications of a possible danger from the future Nashville attacker.
The man’s then-girlfriend told authorities on August 21, 2019 that he was building bombs in his trailer, according to a police report. Police released the document on Wednesday after several media outlets reported it.
The bomb builders did not let the police in
According to the police, the officers visited the woman because she had threatened her lawyer with suicide. After his warning about his friend and future Nashville terrorist, the police drove to his house, but he did not open the door.
The police report shows that officers discovered the mobile home in the man’s yard, but couldn’t see inside because it was fenced off. Several security cameras were also installed on the property.
The FBI had no leads either.
The authority announced that there had been no evidence of a crime “at any time.” Consequently, no action was taken.
After the police operation, information about the suspect was sent to the FBI, but there was nothing against the man. Over the weekend it was said that the 63-year-old was not known to police as a suspect.
Devastating explosion in downtown Nashville
The man blew up his RV in downtown Nashville on December 25. He was killed in the process. The explosion caused significant material damage and several people were injured.
If the attacker had not warned local residents about the blast, investigators believe there would have been multiple deaths. The motive for the act is not yet clear.
