Bern after last derby loss – ZSC’s winning streak is broken against Biel – Davos beats Zug

The ZSC Lions lose 3-1 to Biel for the first time after eight wins, and only for the second time at home. Lausanne wins the derby, Davos wins at home against Zug.

Langnau – Bern 4: 3

SC Bern loses a spectacular derby against SC Tigers 3: 4. Anthony Huguenin scores 93 seconds before the end to win and pushes the red lantern into the opposing canton’s hand. It is the first time since promotion in 1986 that the SCB is the last position in the National League.

The live ticker to read:

SC Bern has lost the winning gene that has distinguished him so many times in recent years. Under difficult circumstances, the Bernese fought exemplary in the basement duel against the SCL Tigers, who had previously placed last, but a minute and a half before the end, shortly after an unused power play, they let the top scorer of the team escape. Langnau PostFinance Ben Maxwell and Anthony Huguenin and conceded the decisive 3: 4.

In the final third, the SCB had taken the lead twice after an initial deficit, but ultimately lost for the fourth time in a row; the SCL Tigers, however, achieved their first win after six losses.

For once, the Bernese have good reason to explain the reverse. They only returned from the second quarantine of this season on Monday and had to dispense with fewer than eight players, including Tristan Scherwey and veteran defender Beat Gerber, who were sick with Covid-19 and are not yet in a position to return to action. Instead, five juniors and newly signed Swedish winger Jesper Olofsson made their National League debut.

Davos – train 3: 2nV

HC Davos achieved one of their rare victories against Leader Zug 3-2 after extra time. Fabrice Herzog made the decision four seconds before the end of extra time.

The extension continued smoothly where the game had temporarily ended after 60 minutes – spectacular. In the end, the HCD didn’t get the extra point undeservedly. After just a few seconds of overtime, Magnus Nygren only hit the crossbar, and after a faulty substitution by Zug, Davos was able to play 5v3 for 30 seconds. The decisive 3-2, however, only fell at the end.

With Davos and Zug, the two offensively strongest teams in the league met, and that was shown in 75 shots on goal (39:36). The two goalkeepers Robert Mayer and Leonardo Genoni had an excellent evening. Davos have only won against Zug for the second time in the last ten games and for the first time since October 2017 at home.

Zurich – Biel 1: 3

The ZSC Lions lost 3-1 to Biel for the first time after eight victories, and only for the second time at home.

It took the two teams more than 39 minutes to reach operating temperature in the empty indoor stadium. A double shot by Biel from Yanick Stampfli (45th) and Petteri Lindbohm 49th) brought the decision. Both defeated the previously strong Ludovic Waeber with powerful shots from the blue line, for the 20-year-old Stampfli it was the first goal in the National League. Lindbohm then hit the empty goal to make it 3-1.

The Zeelanders were successful after a cautious start with a clear increase in performance and greater commitment than the Zurick, who were used to success. Their impressive streak was snapped despite Marco Pedretti’s 1-0 lead. They suffered their first loss since October 27 (2: 5 at Ambri).

Geneva – Lausanne 1: 4

Lausanne HC won another Léman derby after falling behind. A foul by Robin Leone put the Vaudois in a 4-1 win in Geneva on the track.

The balance of power at Lake Geneva is increasingly shifting in favor of the strong Lausanne hockey club. After Servette had won eight of the last nine derbies, the Lausanne team turned the tide in their favor again in the final match of the year. It was the special teams that made the difference.

In the 26th minute, Joël Genazzi made up for Damien Riat’s early lead with a power play, and in the 35th minute, Robin Leone put the Vaudois ahead in numbers. Robin Grossmann then made the preliminary decision in the last third. Geneva lost two games in a row for the first time this season after 2: 3 in Freiburg before Christmas.

The end of the Berne sports world as we knew it

The cantonal government of Bern bans large events with more than 1000 people until further notice. It is the end of the sport of Bern with the SCL Tigers, SC Bern, Biel and YB. This solo effort by the Bernese can be summed up in one sentence: a government is going crazy.

First of all, some reactions to Bernese going solo. The director of the hockey league, Denis Vaucher, is in awe. “We implemented all the protection concepts and there was not the slightest problem with the games. Because the Berne government overlooked the expansion of contact tracing, this regulation is already in effect. “

How it will continue will only be known on Monday. Clubs need time to decide how to deal with this ban on football and especially hockey in Bern …
