Coronavirus can trigger strong inflammatory reactions in children

In Switzerland and Liechtenstein, the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) received 5,424 new coronavirus infections in the 24 hours of Wednesday. In Switzerland, more than 7,000 people have died in relation to Covid-19.

The positivity rate for the past two weeks was 14 percent for PCR tests and 10.6 percent for rapid antigen tests. The number of reproductions of the coronavirus, which indicates the average number of people infected by an infected person, was 0.75 on December 20, compared to 0.81 on December 19. To slow the spread of the virus, its reproductive number (R-value) must be significantly less than 1.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,615,035 tests have been conducted for Sars-CoV-2, the causative agent of Covid-19 disease, in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, according to the FOPH. There were a total of 447,905 laboratory-confirmed coronavirus infection cases. So far, 18,464 people have had to be treated in hospital for a Covid 19 disease.

According to the BAG, 20,625 people were in isolation and another 29,092 people were in quarantine due to contact tracing. In addition, there were 2,142 people in quarantine who had returned from a country at risk. (sda)
