After the devastating earthquake in Croatia, two more tremors shook the area around the small towns of Sisak and Petrinja early Wednesday morning.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) awarded strengths 4.8 and 4.6. The epicenters were again about 45 kilometers southeast of Zagreb. Initially, nothing was known about new victims.

“What has not yet fallen from the ruins of the city has now fallen,” Petrinja Mayor Darinko Dumbovic told state television HRT. The 6.4-magnitude earthquake devastated downtown Petrinja and the nearby town of Sisak district on Tuesday. At least seven people were killed, including a twelve-year-old girl and two dozen others were injured.

People stayed outdoors or in cars.

A total of 38 tremors were recorded in Croatia in the past 49 hours, the news portal “jutarnji.hr” reported. The earth had already shook for the first time on Monday. Earthquakes of magnitude 5.2 and 5.0 initially only caused property damage.

Croatian seismologists expect new earthquakes. In Petrinja, many people spent Wednesday night outdoors or in their cars fearing further earthquakes, Croatian media reported.
