In Zurich, vaccination against Corona begins on January 4, in Aargau a day later and the canton of Lucerne began shortly before Christmas. The canton of Bern is a little later: the first of the two punctures will not be available until January 11.
Now it should also be mentioned that a job advertisement is still being sought in Bern, shortly before the vaccination starts. This causes profanity on social media, especially Twitter. Working group epidemiologist Marcel Salathé (44) tweeted: “Don’t you have a vaccine or aren’t you ready yet?” She wanted to explain to her 88-year-old grandmother why she had to wait so long.
“Useless and annoying!”
At the latest, when another Twitter user dialed Bern’s health director directly, Pierre Alain Schnegg (58, Senior Vice President), his hat was raised. “Everyone knows that the current problem is the number of cans available, not the capacity!” He responds. Bern has a “solid plan” and wants to tackle the challenge in a coordinated way.
Schnegg doesn’t skimp on criticism, either. “It is a shame that some people give in to these types of messages, which are both useless and annoying.
There is a head of vaccination
Of course, there is a person responsible for vaccines in Bern, but Schnegg’s spokesman Gundekar Giebel reassures them. The vaccination campaign will be led by a special Bern Corona staff member, announced at BLICK’s request. But he is also a doctor at the Inselspital and will work there again from March. That is why the position has now been announced.
You can register for a vaccination appointment in Bern from January 8. Since the canton starts with several centers, it should be possible to carry out several thousand vaccinations per day, provided that sufficient doses are available. (gbl)
