The Austrians celebrate a double downhill victory in Bormio. Matthias Mayer wins the last race of the year ahead of Vincent Kriechmayr. Urs Kryenbühl is third, Mauro Caviezel fifth.

The ride on the Stelvio track, which has a lot of waves and potholes, takes just under two minutes. However, the top ten drivers were only six tenths apart. There were four hundredths between Mayer and Kriechmayr, Kryenbühl was six hundredths away from his first World Cup victory. Mauro Caviezel was only fifth, 16 hundredths behind, while Dominik Paris, a five-time Stelvio downhill winner, came fourth.

Beat Feuz threatened to be out of the top ten after 28 races in the top 10. In the end, the Emmentaler finished 10th, 59 hundredths behind, two positions ahead of Marco Odermatt. Carlo Janka, Niels Hintermann and Ralph Weber were eliminated, Stefan Rogentin was unable to take advantage of the solid training performances. With a difference of 2.19 seconds, the driver from Graubünden missed the top 20.

Ryan Cochran-Siegle also remained below his potential. The American, who dominated both tests and won the Super-G the day before, finished seventh. On a wild ride he made one or two little mistakes too.

For Mayer it is the tenth success in the World Cup, the sixth in decline. Urs Kryenbühl took the podium for the third time. A year ago, Schwyzer had missed their first World Cup victory in Bormio by eight hundredths as a second behind Dominik Paris.
