Novavax advances in the US
Other companies have only just started the third phase. On Tuesday, the US company Novavax will begin vaccine trials in Mexico and the United States. Together with a good 30,000 volunteers, the company is conducting phase three of the clinical trials. The third phase is already underway in Great Britain with 15,000 test people.
The British company AstraZeneca is also working on a vaccine together with the University of Oxford. The first provisional results of the third phase are already known. The vaccine is said to be around 70 percent effective. AstraZeneca has also submitted the application for approval of the vaccine to Swissmedic in Switzerland.
With Curevac, another German company is engaged in the manufacture of vaccines. It began its third phase on December 14 with 35,000 participants. A request has not been sent to Swissmedic yet.
Swissmedic is testing four vaccines
Swissmedic has also received the vaccine request from Janssen-Cilag. The German subsidiary of the US pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson has its vaccine evaluated by Swissmedic in an ongoing process. His study began on September 7. Here it is also not clear when the approval will take place in this country.
