Due to Corona’s protection measures, the Swiss population has increasingly bought their Christmas gifts online this year: with 24.1 million packages since Black Friday, the Swiss Post has processed more packages at its sorting centers and has delivered them to homes than ever. That’s about 29 percent more than in the same period last year (18.6 million).
As of November 29, Swiss Post employees were processing more than one million packages each day. Swiss Post published the record day with 1.3 million packages on December 15, ten days before Christmas. In December, therefore, the Swiss Post again set a monthly record in its 170-year history.
15 million letters
The previous monthly record of April 2020 during the crash has been significantly broken again with 19.8 million packages. Thanks to the great commitment of the employees and the expansion of the sorting capacity by 300,000 packages per day, Swiss Post was able to cope with the extraordinary volume of packages.
Employees delivered 15 million letters and 125,000 small items every day through the mail centers. (pbe)
