The Swiss Kyril Louis-Dreyfus becomes the new owner of the traditional English club AFC Sunderland.
As the League One club announced on its website at Christmas, previous owner Stewart Donald agreed to an acquisition with Kyril Louis-Dreyfus, 22, of Zurich. This should take place in mid-January. First, the English Football League (EFL) has to approve the deal.
Louis-Dreyfus is the son of the late Robert Louis-Dreyfus and Margarita Louis-Dreyfus. His mother is the former owner of Olympique de Marseille. Margarita Louis-Dreyfus lives in Switzerland with her current partner, the former president of the National Bank Philipp Hildebrand.
Known for a Netflix documentary
Sunderland are currently in the midfield of League One, the third highest league in England. The northeastern club gained fame through the Netflix documentary “Sunderland’Til I Die.” Following the relegation of the Premier League, the two seasons 2017/18 and 2018/19 lit up.
