In the mountains it was much windier than in the lowlands: for example, wind peaks of up to 138 km / h were measured in the Säntis, in eastern Switzerland, just over 2,500 meters above sea level, as MeteoNews announced on Friday. On the Pilatus in Central Switzerland at a good 2,100 meters above sea level, the strongest gusts reached 119 km / h and on the Chasseral in the Jura at almost 1,600 meters 105 km / h.
At locations below 1,000 meters, the Bantiger BE was the leader with 99 km / h, ahead of the Üetliberg ZH with 90 km / h and the Mühleberg-Stockeren station in the canton of Bern with 88 km / h.
The announced snowfall in the lowlands did not materialize for the moment. “A very cloudy Christmas day awaits us,” wrote SRF Meteo on Twitter. Snow showers occur mainly on the northern slopes of the Alps. To sled on the plains, you need patience in most places.
