An ATM was blown up at the Killwangen-Spreitenbach train station on Wednesday night. A resident of the neighboring community of Neuenhof reported on Facebook that he had “struck three times” at night. Others wrote about police checkpoints leaving Neuenhof in the direction of the Autobahn or at the Wettingen Ost exit.

When questioned, Bernhard Graser from the Aargau Canton Police confirmed: “Around 3 am, the police received several reports of explosions.” It quickly became clear that the train station ATM had been blown up.

At the scene of the crime there was an image of the destruction, reports the canton police. There was a large gap in the outer wall, in which the completely destroyed ATM was embedded. The esplanade was littered with bricks and rubble.

Although a great persecution began immediately, the perpetrators managed to escape.

According to the police, the amount of damage cannot yet be quantified. The amount of the offense is also unclear. According to initial findings, the perpetrators have stolen a lot. Cantonal police were busy with crime scene work until that morning.

The Federal Police take over the investigation

It is not yet clear whether there is a connection to other crimes, such as the demolition of ATMs a month ago in Küttigen. Since there is an explosives crime, the Federal Police Office assumes the additional investigations on behalf of the Federal Prosecutor’s Office.

The police of the canton of Baden ask witnesses or persons who have made suspicious observations to contact the Phone number 056 / 200’11’11 Report to.
