The 48-year-old gunman also set fire to his home in a remote village in the Puy-de-Dôme department in central France. Firefighters put out the fire.
The woman could save herself and be safe. The perpetrator was found dead that morning, according to «francebleu.fr».
The man had already become conspicuous in the past due to a custody dispute over a child. According to AFP, the Puy-de-Dôme prefecture says that the police operation was linked to “domestic violence.”
The wounded policeman was taken to a hospital. (SDA / noo)
