The canton of Baselland reported 198 new infections with the coronavirus and three more deaths from Covid-19 on Tuesday. This means that the number of current positive test results has more than doubled compared to Monday. 9,890 infections have been recorded in the Basel area since the start of the pandemic.
With the three deaths recently reported in the canton, the number of people who died from Covid-19 has risen to 141. 68 people were in the hospital due to Covid-19 (+1), including 5 patients in the intensive care unit .
Lower increase in Basel-Stadt
The canton of Basel-Stadt recorded 79 new coronavirus infections and four deaths from Covid-19 on Tuesday. So far, 130 people have died of Covid-19 in the canton of the city.
The total number of infections recorded so far increased with 79 new infections (+35 compared to Monday) to 7,476.
On Tuesday, 151 Covid 19 patients were in a Basel hospital (-1). Of these, 103 still resided in the canton of the city. There were still 18 patients in the intensive care unit.
On Tuesday, 759 residents of the canton (-44) were isolated.
