Due to the current situation of the crown in Germany, the government of southwestern Germany wants to take action. Entry should only be possible for professional, school or family reasons.
The German state of Baden-Württemberg wants to significantly restrict small border traffic for winter sports enthusiasts and shopping tourists in France and Switzerland with a quarantine obligation.
“The risk of additional sources of infection emerging inland when traveling to and from Baden-Württemberg is limited,” government circles in Stuttgart said Tuesday.
The tightening of the entry quarantine regulation means that, for example, neither the inhabitants of Baden-Württemberg can ski in Switzerland, nor can the Swiss go shopping at the supermarket in Baden-Württemberg. The background is the infection process in southwestern Germany and in the border regions.
As the dpa news agency learned, the regulation must continue to allow entries without quarantine for professional, official, commercial, school, medical or family reasons. The updated ordinance is due to be adopted Tuesday and then enacted and put into effect. With the tightening of the entry regulations, Baden-Württemberg is taking a step that Bavaria had already taken at the end of November.
