The Swiss slalom riders set an example at the start of the season in Alta Badia. Daniel Yule is in second place after the first race, Ramon Zenhäusern, a little behind his teammates, in eighth place.

Alex Vinatzer is at the helm. The 21-year-old Italian was 27 hundredths faster than Yule and thus marked a time difference in which seven drivers qualified behind him. Austrian Michael Matt, Norwegians Sebastian Foss-Solevaag and Henrik Kristoffersen and Frenchmen Alexis Pinturault and Victor Muffat-Jeandet lined up behind Yule and opposite Zenhäusern. The second round of the afternoon promises a lot of tension.

Second race without Noël

As the third best Swiss, Tanguy Nef is just under a second behind in 12th place. Loïc Meillard’s late start to the slalom season was worse. Like the day before, the French-speaking country made a mistake that took a long time in the giant slalom and has to worry about participating in the second round.

One of the big favorites is no longer in the decision. Frenchman Clément Noël escaped at the top of the track. He came back but lost too much time to qualify for race two.
