In a representative survey, 35 percent said they wanted to get vaccinated against the coronavirus as soon as possible. 57 percent said they would not or would not be vaccinated.
The Swiss survey institute Marketagent.com announced this on Sunday. He conducted the survey between December 4-14, 2020, and interviewed 1,000 people between the ages of 14 and 74 in German and French-speaking Switzerland.
Therefore, a clear majority assume that the vaccine will offer protection (62 percent) and will be safe (57 percent). 63 percent are also confident that the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG) will make the right decisions when it comes to providing a vaccine. However, the majority (57 percent) do not want to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
“Better give way to others”
“Behind this contradiction there is likely great hope that the widest possible vaccination coverage for the population will lead to greater normality,” explained Martina Staub of Marketagent.com Switzerland in the press release. “But: Basically you prefer to prioritize others.” This, of course, makes it difficult to achieve the goal of greater normality through vaccination.
Also, there is skepticism about a particular corona vaccine. The majority (53 percent) agreed with the statement “In general I support vaccines, but in the case of Corona I would not be vaccinated because we have very little experience with this vaccine.” Women answered affirmatively much more often than men.
