On Thursday, the Office of the President announced that the 42-year-old had tested positive for the corona virus. The head of state was then isolated in the presidential residence La Laterne on the edge of the gardens of the Palace of Versailles.
France is one of the European countries that has been seriously affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. On Friday, the number of corona deaths reported since the pandemic outbreak surpassed the 60,000 mark.
