Green men? Rascals? No, seasoned gentlemen. And the locals too. They did their thing with the Liebegg castle monolith so professionally that the mayor of Gränich, Peter Stirnemann, declares: “I am a bit proud of the action.”
The secret of the monolith, which was placed in the middle of the rotunda below the castle on Wednesday night of last week, was revealed on Thursday.
From now on forever
Luca Arber (30, Gränichen), Michael Klauser (37, Oberentfelden) and René Fasler (45, Gränichen) went out, told their adventure story, and placed the almost 2.4 meter high monolith in the middle of the meadow. It should stay there, forever.
It all started the day before yesterday on Monday: Arber and Klauser had read about the monolith boom on the Internet. One of the most famous representatives is that of Utah, it was officially discovered on November 18, 2020 in the desert of the US state. Since then, monoliths have appeared in various countries.
They wanted to set an example
Arber, Klauser and Fasler also wanted to set an example with the first monolith in Switzerland. “It distracts the people of Corona,” as Arber puts it. They also told their story to Tele M1 on Thursday:
On Tuesday morning they ordered the material – polished chrome steel – from their colleague Fasler, in the afternoon they welded it and around midnight they placed the monolith on a template anchored to the ground. As soon as they finished, they were lucky: it began to snow, all traces were erased:
One night later, they dismantled the monolith and hid it. Then they got a vehicle. When they returned there was a couple looking for the stele. The trio helped with the search, until the strangers scoffed. (uhg)
