On Thursday night at 9:30 pm, a 34-year-old man was injured by strangers on Belchenstrasse. This is announced by the Basel prosecutor’s office.
The 34-year-old man was heading home. Suddenly three men approached him and asked for cigarettes. When he did not give what he was asked to do, he was suddenly hit on the head with an object, causing him to fall to the ground. Then the men kicked him, so the message continues.
Then the perpetrators fled to Neubadquartier. The victim had to be referred to the emergency room by the Basel-Stadt ambulance.
Police are looking for witnesses
An immediate manhunt was unsuccessful, as authorities say. The prosecution is looking for three strangers in their 25s. One of the perpetrators was walking on two crutches.
Persons who can provide relevant information are asked to contact the criminal investigation department of the prosecutor’s office or the nearest police station.
