Usage in Wettingen (AG): Police operation against coronavirus outbreak in Aargau was successful – news

  • At Easter, a known skeptic of the crown was arrested by the police in Wettingen (AG) and admitted to a clinic.
  • This mission was justified “to protect life and physical integrity,” now records an investigation report.
  • The CFO of Aargau, Markus Dieth (CVP) involved in the case, also behaved correctly.

It happened on Easter Saturday: in Wettingen, a 58-year-old doctor was arrested by the special unit of the Aargau canton police, or “detained” as it is called in technical jargon. He was later admitted to a psychiatric clinic, but was released a few days later.

The April police operation had a great response. The doctor in question had reported on the operation on social media and asked for help on Twitter. Rumors quickly circulated that the authorities wanted to “silence” the well-known coronavirus.

In connection with the corona pandemic, the doctor, who specializes in cardiology, continues to speak of “fraud” on social media and repeatedly criticizes the political measures as a “global mob crime.” He does not doubt the existence of the virus, but compares it with the effects of the flu and considers the measures to be exaggerated.

He describes German virologist Christian Drosten and Federal Councilor Alain Berset as “clowns.” Politicians as “freaks”. In this context, it publishes several publications a day, in total there are thousands. The doctor also criticized the SRF reports as “a building of lies.”

According to his attorney, the doctor cannot yet comment on the examination report. They still have to study the report, at the moment they only know the message from the State Chancellery.

In May, the doctor asked his lawyer to conduct an independent investigation into the incident. The Aargau government accepted this request. The report of the constitutional lawyer Professor Felix Uhlmann of the University of Zurich is now available, as indicated in a message from the Aargau State Chancellery on Friday.

No direct connection to Corona

The report concluded that the mission “to protect the life and physical integrity of relatives and authorities was justified and was not politically motivated.” The canton police have received a report of threats against relatives and authorities. The man had previously written about a “global coup”. It is time to “load the weapons”.

There was a suspicion that the supposedly mentally unstable man might be armed. According to the canton, it is also clear that the deployment “was not carried out in reaction to critical statements against protection measures to combat the coronavirus pandemic.”

However: the report is not public. At the request of the SRF, the State Chancellery declared that this was not possible for reasons of privacy protection. Even the people involved in the case would only receive a summary of the report for their viewing.

Aargau CFO Markus Dieth was also involved in the “matter”. A third informed him of the doctor’s activities and then contacted the police commander. He consulted with the third party, with which the police operation was ordered.

According to the report, the behavior of the governing council was also correct. Therefore, the accusation that the politician practically initiated the deployment of the special unit is not true.

However: After the arrest, there were “inaccuracies in the procedure in relation to care accommodation,” the cantonal statement said. The legality of the detention and welfare measures is not in question.

The man’s lawyer had previously stressed that his client “was at no time in danger to himself or to others.” This would be a prerequisite for detaining a person against their will in a mental health facility. When asked by the lawyer, the report is said to have not yet been received and therefore cannot be commented on yet.
