Ladina Jenny is second for the first time this season on the podium at Carezza. Nevin Galmarini reaches the quarterfinals in his comeback.

Already in the second race of the season, Ladina Jenny took the podium. In the parallel giant slalom in Carezza, Italy, the Glarnerin finished 2. In the last run she had to admit defeat to Germany’s Ramona Theresia Hofmeister with a deficit of 46 hundredths. For Jenny it was a total of 10th place on the podium in her career (four times second, six times third).

Jessica Keizer reached the quarterfinals as the second best Swiss woman. The 26-year-old had been to a World Cup knockout round for the first time and quickly won it against Japan’s Tsubaki Miki. In the end, she finished seventh. Julie Zogg, the third Swiss woman in the main competition, got stuck in the knockout stages and came in ninth.

Galmarini with a solid comeback

In his first World Cup race after a 22-month break, Nevin Galmarini proved that he is already one of the best again. In the round of 16 he won the duel against the Italian Aaron March, in the previous week in the second opening game of the season at Cortina d’Ampezzo.

In the quarterfinals against Andreas Prommegger, a mistake shortly before the end cost Galmarini an even better qualification. The 34-year-old from Graubünden had decided not to go to Cortina for the last time due to long-term back problems. Like Galmarini (seventh place), Dario Caviezel (sixth) was eliminated in the quarterfinals. Benjamin Karl won the Austrian final with a 0.01 second lead over Prommegger.
