Postfinance wants to charge other private clients negative interest rates from February 2021. A total of about 14,000 people received a letter on Thursday with information about the corresponding rate adjustment, said a spokesman for the AWP news agency.

He would have assets of more than 100,000 francs in Postfinance, but he would not use any other services at the institute other than savings and payment accounts, he explained. For the rest of Postfinance’s approximately 2.5 million private clients, the previous limit of CHF 250,000 still applies.
